Treatment planning
Before surgery, the hair loss was classified as Norwood IIIA.
What did the pre-operative design show?
The drawn line provides useful information that a standard before photograph would otherwise lose.
It shows the intended frontal position before implantation: a relatively forward central line with a gentle curve and preserved recession toward the temporal corners.
This differs from a more recessed mature-hairline design such as our 4,127-graft mature hairline case, while the main point here is also different from our 3,248-graft soft frontal transition case, where the relatively high proportion of single-hair grafts was a central part of the story.
In this patient, the defining feature is the position and overall geometry of the planned frontal line.
Graft composition
The 3,596 transplanted grafts consisted of 841 single-hair grafts, 2,013 double-hair grafts and 742 multi-hair grafts.
Based on the recorded composition, the procedure involved at least 7,093 individual hairs:
- 841 single-hair grafts contributed 841 hairs
- 2,013 double-hair grafts contributed 4,026 hairs
- 742 multi-hair grafts contributed at least 2,226 hairs
The true total may have been higher because our multi-hair category includes follicular units containing three or more hairs.
Across our case library, we do not assign exact retrospective graft counts to individual recipient zones when treatment boundaries overlap. Doing so would imply a level of precision that the operative distribution does not support.
Was the crown transplanted?
No. The crown was not grafted; all 3,596 grafts went to the frontal region, where the hairline was rebuilt.
The 11-month result
At 11 months, the follow-up photograph shows substantially greater frontal coverage.
The hairstyle leaves a meaningful portion of the frontal region visible, although it does not expose the entire hairline contour. The visible portion can be assessed, but these photographs are not sufficient for a millimeter-by-millimeter comparison with the full pre-operative drawing.
The two images also differ in head position, hair length, texture and styling. Those factors affect how the frontal area appears.
The photographs therefore document the cosmetic change in the frontal region without providing an exact measurement of density gain or graft survival.
Further maturation may still occur beyond the 11-month point.
Finasteride and minoxidil after surgery
The patient used finasteride and minoxidil after transplantation.
That treatment history is relevant because native hair remained behind the reconstructed frontal area.

What this case shows
Here the drawing matters as much as the photographs. It records where the new frontal line was meant to sit, fairly forward through the center with some recession kept at the temples, so the visible part of the 11-month hairline can be checked against a documented plan.
That line was built with 3,596 grafts carrying at least 7,093 hairs: 841 single, 2,013 double and 742 multi-hair units. Finasteride and minoxidil were used after surgery, so the native hair behind the reconstructed front had medical support during the 11 months shown.
